Just wanted to know if my perc layed any eggs? I don't know the first thing on raising them with other fish in the tank.

So I'm looking for help.

You do have little clown eggs! Congrats. But they will not survive if you leave them in your display tank -- rearing them is a tough task. KarenB and a couple of other MARSHians have been quite successful.

Thanks for the rotifer offer, I may have to swing out ther to pick some up. Unfortunately, as exciting at this is, I was not prepared for this. If I have to move them out of my tank, I may need to move the clown out from my nano tank and put them in there.

If you move them, it may be a while before they lay eggs again. They are really picky about changes to the enviornment. I know of some that havent started laying eggs again over a year after being moved.

You can catch the larvae after they hatch, I made a larval snagger and it works pretty good in my 150.

Yep, once they are disturbed they take their time about laying again.

Mine are on clockwork again, laying every 11 days. But now it is almost time for me to prune back their home which are green hairy mushrooms. I know once I do that they will not lay for some time.

Tell me more about the larvae snagger? Anything like a modified turkey baster? I will try to move them in my nano and see if I can raise them in the nano.

Youll need to setup a small tank of there own to raise the babies. A 5 or 10 gallon will do to start. You just have to have too much food in the system for a regular tank to maintain water quality.
Another option I've found was to use Joyce Wilkerson's larval snagger. I wish I had started with this method in the first place, it has maid it so much easier. Cut-off the end of a 2 liter bottle of soda and silicon it (Aquarium grade silicon) to a Permanent coffee filter. Put a small pump (40-100 gph) with a line running out of it the filter. Place the entire assembly inside a small tank. (I use a clear Rubbermaid container). Attach a "J tube. (I use two eheim return tubes) to the box and set the whole thing in the tank there the larvae will be hatching. Remove the air from the siphon tubes and start the pump up. You will now have a siphon on the J tubes that's pulling water in from the main tank. Shine a light on the end of the tube and sit back and relax! The larvae will be attracted to the light and get sucked up in the siphon. The permanent coffee filter will keep them safely in the hold. Let it go for a while and you'll have a container full of larvae!

If I remember right, they should hatch on the seventh night about 1-2 hours after you turn out the lights.

Most likely they vary between 6-8 nights , but however many nights it will always be the same.
