Dang that sucks! If you decide to move your DT to redo the floors, I have a 150 gallon rubbermaid container I'm not using at the moment. Bought it to cook some liverock in but haven't started yet. Also have 2 55 gallon barrels, a 75 gallon reef ready glass tank and stand, multiple external pumps and a few internal (one mag12), an SRO 1000INT skimmer, and 2 300W eheim jager heaters that are all not in use right now. You're welcome to borrow any/all of that.

When you redo the sump you might think of putting a "drip pan" in the bottom. I know I preach this alot but mine has saved me many times. You can also get a water leak sensor to hook to controller or even a cheap one for less than 20.00 that will start squeeling if it detects water.

Thanks for the suggestions!

More bad news...4 of 5 radions converters were housed in the stand (on the ground). They (the four in the stand) are dead. Great.

That SUCKS!
You were right on that, 4" of water in your stand?
Open them up it might be just the fuse that did it.
Btw, glad I could help.
Can't help you on the lights but d2mini might?
Oh before I forget put about 6 pounds of cooking salt around your tank tonight.
NO not spread it out  leave it in the bags it will absorb more moister from under your floor.
The good thing about your floor is that you installed it 3" floating above your foundation.
Shout at me if you need more help.

That sucks. I am so sorry to hear that and now I am going to have night mares about my sump....

I don't know how big the radion thingees are but my daughter dropped her phone in a place not meant for phones. She didn't want to tell us... she took her phone apart and put in a container of rice for a few days. Phone worked afterwards. So you might try that...hopefully like diesel said the fuse went quick and killed the juice.

Dude, I am so so sorry. It feels like we plan so much against certain things happening, then the one thing we didn't consider happens... Seriously ask for some help if you need it - I owe ya for that purple dig' you gave me when I was beginning SPS :)

It got put on hold because my dad's diagnosis of cancer.

Right now I have a service cleaning my tank it was ignored for a long time and has a horrible algae problem right now. I do have a few corals in the tank. But it's going to be a little bit until I have the SPSs running like I want

You can say she's a tad bit upset. She's trying to be understanding and even helped out with the initial clean-up last night but I can tell she's pretty aggravated. Needless to say I'm on my best behavior

Something funny that came out of this - Last night, my wife comes running in the bedroom and wakes me up by saying "Jason, get up. Your tank is leaking" I leaped out of bed yelling "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" I was still asleep but I clearly remember immediately yelling that. I guess it's that constant fear that we all have that just erupted from me.

Oh man Jason, not good about the Radions. Saltwater wrecks absolute havoc on electronics very quickly. This may sound crazy but your best bet to saving them would have been too drop them in a bucket of fresh water to get the salt out and then hit with a hair dryer/compressed air. I've been designing controls for offshore rigs for 20+ years and have seen/heard some crazy stories about saving electronics from saltwater.

Seriously man, just post up in here if you need anything. You know one of us will help.

It doesn't really matter now but I can't remember. Was your sump custom made local or was it purchased from a company that makes sumps? Just wondering, both of my sumps are made by Precision Marine and they still worry me.

Thanks Mark,

It was made local. What really sucks is it had already been repaired once for a weeper on the other side. This time the other side just completely failed. Ripped from top to bottom. Couldn't have been at a worse spot either. It allowed as much water as was possible to be removed since that portion (fuge) was isolated from the rest so none of my other equipment new there was a problem until it was to late.

Maybe when you put everything back, you can try something like this (what I did so I get a sound nights sleep):
in the stand I used shower pan liner and essentially made a little tub in base of the stand that will hold 3-4 gallons.
i ran one of the switches from my rkl as a water sensor, and plugged all of my pumps into one of my controller outlets. If the leak detector switch is thrown it will kill return pumps, skimmer, and top off while sounding an alarm.
Power heads are on a separate outlet to make sure the tank does not get nuked if this happens while I am not home.

Best way to get water out of electronics is rice but that doesn't get the salt out. Maybe dunk them in fresh water and then put them in a bucket of rice.

Depending on your wood floors you might be ok if they are sealed well and water didn't penetrate. If they are real wood floors take a circular saw and cut a hole so you can prying them up and replace if damaged. That would allow you to get rice/cat litter to suck up any moisture. I have had to cut holes in real hardwoods a lot and it isn't as hard as it sounds to pull up and fix. Keep in mind that if the water didn't get underneath the floors but only damaged the surface it would be a quick sand and stain job.

Let me know if I can help in any way.

Ok Ok I was working under the assumption that the saltwater had been rinsed off when I recommended the rice thing.

Now for a laugh.. Waaaay back in college I had a 200g tank that I bought used. One of the returns was fairly low in the tank so the previous owner used a check valve to keep it from draining when the pump turned off. So I set it up the same. Roommate and I came home one day to find the living room flooded (check valve failed when stupid dog stepped on power strip). The only funny thing about the whole incident was I had a large clown tang. The water drained down to about 5" and the clown was swimming around with about an 1 of his body above the water line.

I did have a dream about my stupid sump leaking last night by the way....

That leak detector looks cool, hadn't heard of that before and think I will get some of those. I had a hot water heater lose seals internally, overflow the pan and take out a ceiling upstairs, luckily heard it right before walking out the door or it would have been MUCH worse. Those will be awesome for that as well as under our stands.
