The Texas General Land Office has sent me some patches for the kids so bring them to the event and they can earn one of these.

Not sure if I'm the only one who thinks this, but 9:00 seems a bit early. It takes at least and hour (from downtown) to get to that location, and people have to get ready for the day before they make their way down. I might go if I'm not busy, but I doubt I'll be down there before 11:00, and by then I'm not sure I'd be of much help.

9-12pm are the hours that are scheduled by the TGLO and all volunteers and beach guardians will be in Galveston at the same time. Just wake up early and you can make it, i'm actually going to be there earlier to pick up all our things that they will provide for us so once everyone gets there we have everything setup to go. If you can help for one hour only then that's better than nothing every little bit helps.

I'll be there and I think I'm going to bring my son. If anyone needs a ride, I'll be leaving from the reliant area...so if you live anywhere close by I can pick you up. Also for the meet at Steves...let me know if I need to bring anything.

Mike - Yes, we should leave around 7am so we can pick up all the stuff that the TGLO is going to give us then we can go to the cleanup spot and get everything ready for everyone.

Fred - Yes, bring your son this should be a family event and will be educational. I will let you know if we need help with anything but you can bring a dish, snacks or anything you like.

I was just informed that there will also be lunch provided by Wal-Mart for all volunteers at Menard Park (27th and Seawall) and also a souvenir for everyone. There are hundreds of volunteers so it might be packed but you can pick up your souvenir on the way to Steve's house if you like.

Change in location

[size=+3]There has been a change in location for the Beach Cleanup[/size]

I went to Pelican Island this past weekend and went by the location we were previously assigned but it has changed dramatically from a few months ago when I went to look at it. Everything is overgrown and difficult to get to and the parking would have been a nightmare but first of all was that it did not look safe enough for children to go through all the growth just to get to the beach front. I talked to a couple of people at the TGLO and asked if we can change our location and I decided to pick Stewart Beach for our cleanup location.

This location will be safer and we should be together with all the other volunteers from other organizations. This will also give a chance for everyone to pickup their Adopt-A-Beach Souvenir from Menard Park (27th and Seawall)


Will will have a MARSH Banner out so look for us as everyone might be parking all over the place.

Directions:
Keep going down on 45 South until you hit the end of the road and that will be Stewart Beach

It's almost time so if you have not signed up please go ahead and do it so I can make sure there is enough food for everyone and that we grab enough supplies for everyone.

To get into Steward Beach and not get charged for parking please download and print the following Data Card, we will have some on site but just in case you don't see us. Just show it in the entrance and they will let you in.

I would like to know if someone can bring an extra cooler, owe can get at least 3 with some ice would be good. If so please post on here.

We are going to be in Steward Beach so that's fine we will drive in the cars to the beach and have the coolers in back of the trucks.
