I thought this question was strange when the hobby has done so much for me.

Some of you know I owned and operated 3rd Coast Corals aka 3CC. Everyone that came in got an honest deal and was always given the truth regarding an item. I have always been an honest trust worthy individual, multiple security clearances can validate this. When 3CC was unexpectedly closed 12 months early, I took offers on just about everything in the store. Sadly, I sold on credit a tank and SPS coral that a fellow reefkeeper had no plans on paying for. My mistake. What is truly sad is this MARHian reefkeeper was told the tank was going to be a raffle item to raise money for MARSH at ReefCurrents. He asked wouldn't you rather sell it then give it away? Since the creditors needed to be paid - I agreed to the terms.

Today, this reefkeeper confirmed by PM he had no intent on paying for the items.

Small claims court is easy to do, anything under $5k. Sounds open and shut especially with evidence. Oh, and obviously sorry to hear, sucks to be put into that position in the first place. Always enjoyed working with you, maybe just kicking back and enjoying a simply fish tank for a while might be good.

Im not surprised at this, When I was selling 100s of baby parrots there would be people wanting babies with all kind of schemes.
In 10 yrs only had trouble twice, believe it or not with large pet stores who sold my birds and took me months to collect. Needless
to say they never received any more birds. But it was the threat of small claims court that finally got my money.

This is crazy! I don't know if this would work but my uncle installs water parks and if the "buyer" does not pay in fall after the installation, he has a company that will literally repo the equipment. Since you have in writing from the "buyer he will not pay you, you might want to find a legit repo man.

This is defiantly a reason to be aware of others. I would go to small claims court. It is sad when someone's word doesn't mean anything anymore.

Chewy I understand that you may have reservations about outing whoever did it. I did as well when I was in your shoes but what got me to do it wasnt getting the money because I knew that would never have happened... it was protecting others from a person that otherwise seemed like a good person.

What ever you decide I hope you get resolution.

It is I who will not pay Brian , I should not defend myself but, what is more shocking is the responses , after helping so many members you would not even consider that there is a reason before passing judgement.

As Brian so eloquently missed telling everyone the full story as with most things there is always two sides....


i dropped off over 2000 usd of used equipment for resale , and store credit including 32" led's , tunze wave box etc etc, two 400w new dimmible ballasts, two new 400w bulbs, reactor.....etc After following up for weeks , I was told by Brian that he cannot find the lights or the ballasts , and the LED's he donated to one of his customer during the closed down. "I must have miss placed the other equipment " was the answer after looking around the shop with Brian, most of my equipment was gone... considering the equipment value is half of the money owed to Brian , I would think its reasonable to ask for my equipment in return for payment....What is hurtful is I have spent 1000 of usd to support Brian and dropped of over 40 sps and LPS frags at no cost to help when his tanks went belly up with flat worms and all I get is " oh sorry I must have misplaced your equipment".

What is also missing is my reasonable offer ...quote" Return my equipment and 3 seconds later via my phone I will paypal the money" trying to change the story with the tank is also wrong , I was asked to take the tank when I said dont have the money now the answer was " no issue pay me later" ,.... Now I'm the bad guy because it was to be auctioned... The tank was sold and I still have the money anytime your ready to return the equipment the money is yours....

So why don't we run a little test ..to weed the dishonest from the honest , return my equipment and if I don't pay you can post all over how I screwed you, that at least will then be true.

Can a mod please close my account , Brian you have my cell when your ready to return my equipment and get paid.
