Hi my name is Dennis and I am a Big Tankaholic.

It struck me as I was looking for a replacement tank for the 270 that cracked. I looked at a 240g gallon tank and said to myself "that's not big enough". Then I looked around my house at my other 3 tanks and they are all over 100g.

This all started with a 1 gallon fish bowl 40+ years ago. I might go into withdrawals if someone takes all my aquariums. :)

I think my family may be planning an intervention. :)

I have a 170 and recently started looking for another. I started looking at 180s and now I'm at 260 and trying to hold strong, lol.

I WAS CURED IN 2012. Visit Georgia aquarium and your tank will look very very small. Their largest display tank is 6 m gallons big. When they opened it in 05 they used 1.5 million pounds of instant ocean salt. Pretty impressive eh.

I've never been to a really large aquarium (other than David's). I'd like to bring my kids to one

If you ever want a huge tank but not the cost this is the way to do it. There was a guy in Michigan who did this. Mr. 2000 I do not see his web site any more so maybe he gave up on it. What he did was got concrete blocks and built up his aquarium in his basement. used 1 set of double plexi glass sheets for a viewing area and a big liner. It was costly to maintain but would make quite the aquarium at a reasonable cost to build. Cool eh .. My 125 is big enough for me thanks.

When I was in a boat club, someone once talked about getting a bigger boat but was concerned about how much it would cost to run it. One of the other members had the best advise. "if you have to worry about what it cost to run it,don't make the move". I've found that advise applies to most hobbies especially this one.

Ya sometimes... but some people are just old and grouchy. last summer I asked an old fart what kind of gas millage his vintage convertable mustang got and he told me that B.S. It does not mean I can not afford it at all. I just prefer a car that gets good gas millage for my Toronto and Niagara trips. Making a big aquartium is not only bigger monthly costs to maintain... it is also a bigger mess when it leaks. Might take a few tries and even then it can spring a leak any time.
