most caulerpa will go sexual and release a milky fluid into the tank which can cause a crash. If you trim you caulerpa every few weeks you shouldn't have a problem it helps keep it in check
i've had caulerpa growing forever in my tank with no crash...knock on wood. it doesn't need 24/7 lighting. it's actually better to have some sort of darkness period. i run my fuge opposite of the main tank's photoperiod.
Ive never crashed my tank because of it either. I dont keep mine on 24/7. my lights are on opposite photo period. just keep it tumbled and trimmed and there should be no problem. they are very fast growers.
