Hi everyone i am now looking into a doser and there are so many of them out there from cheap to extremely expensive. I am just not sure which one is really and truly reliable.

Any suggestions?

I purchased a Jebao DP4 about two months ago , after some calibrating , it is not the most accurate on dosing I ran RODI water thru it for a week and ended up calibrating it different but DKH and Ca. Are extremely stable at this point ant it was 75.00 dollars at tap , I am not sure of durability but I have three Jebao pumps that have been running none stop for about seven months with no issues.

I just purchased a GHL 2.1 - 3 Pump Doser on Thursday! In my opinion, when it comes to a doser I would rather buy a quality product than go the cheaper route...I really don't want to take the chance of the doser failing and dumping a bunch of stuff into my tank.

I use a combination of a stenner pump for daily automated 3% water changes, which is dosing in itself, plus BRS peristaltic pumps hooked up to Hamilton bay digital timers for regulation. Not exactly high tech, but I've been making it work. The key to having limited dosing windows though is diluting your dosing solution to allow more control. This is also key to smaller tanks, regardless of how regular your pumps can dose.

Cody, I'm interested in hearing more about your daily 3% WC's. How did you set this up?

I use my apex to dosing with BRS doing pump. This works fine as long as you use port 4 or 8 on the 8 port power strip.

Hey Cody does 3% water change keep ALK,mag and calcium in check? Without 3% water change what would your dosing levels be like?

Here's the link to where I discuss my daily water changes. It starts at post 286.

I'm not sure what my alk would be without dosing. I never let it drop low enough, but I know the water changes aren't enough to keep it above 7 dkh. Without dosing calcium, it stays around 360 ppm with reef crystals. Also, for Mg, I was having to periodically dose on top of the water changes. It would occassionlly drop to 1260 ppm, but for some reason the new batch of reef crystals that I got in has a higher Mg than the previous one. Now my Mg is rock solid at 1410 ppm with zero dosing.

I was actually looking at the GHL looks very solid. But I was also looking at the Bubble Magus BM-T01 or the BM-T11 but I have not heard to much about how reliable the Bubble Magus brand is.

I know a handful of folks that use them and have no problems.

Thanks Cody! I am leaning more and more toward setting up the auto water change.
