I just bought some DTs today for a few of my corals and my new orange Linka starfish and after putting it in the skimmer it went nuts and of course fouled the place up a bit, for a few minutes anyway. 8O Has anyone ever had this problem and should I expect it everytime ( feeding at least every other day this should be fun). I don't think it's a bad batch after reading the bottle and doing the smell test....expires in Jan. 2005 and I got it from Aquatic Center so I know it has been handled correctly. Gorgeous Acros there too..sure wish I had the lights for them...maybe in a few months...gonna have to put them on my x-mas list :D . Thanks in advance !

I have not ever had that problem with DT's. You may just have a really touchy skimmer. I'd just turn it down, or turn it off, for a half hour while you feed your tank.

Funny, I just picked up a bottle of DTs today at Global. I added quite a bit of it in (oh yeah, also passed the smell test), then turned on my skimmer a couple hours later. Nothing out of the ordinary. Have you been feeding the tank much recently? You or somebody in the house might have turned up the skimmer to skim out the minute stuff in relatively clean water, then the addition of DTs made it a lot easier to skim (if that makes any sense). just my wild guess.

I do know what you're talking about tho. I got the same thing when I added chemi clean to my tank a couple times.
