In case no one knew. The amount you spend on there pumps is well worth it not only for the technology in it but now I have first hand experience with repairs and they are the best I have ever seen for anything. Sent them an old MP10 that was not starting and the wet side was beginning to split. They called and said we figured out your problem the circuit got water damage so we can replace it and upgrade it to the new ES model for cheaper than an upgrade would normally cost. And your wet side is in poor shape so we will replace it with another one for free. Thats 2 awesome acts they didnt have to do. Never buying a pump from anyone else again and probably will go with the Radions when I make the switch to LEDs

Agreed, ecotech has some of, if not THE, best customer service in the biz.

When I first got my MP40s, one of the two wouldn't start after a day of using them. I called ecotech and they insisted on sending me two new units even though one worked perfectly. They wanted both back because their serial numbers indicated they had been built one after the other and didn't want me to *possibly* have any additional problems. On top of that, they second day aired them to me with no charge to me. Absolutely awesome service.

Fanboy all the way.

HAHA, me too, just called this morning to order a upgrade, they ask me if the unit was broken. I told them that the W won't lit up.
So they ask me for the serial# and told me it was a MP40W es and they will send me the replacement free :woot:
I was so surprised that I did order a mp10W es for the back in order for them to save on shipping.
I had to argue with them for me to pay the shipping.

I haven't had a problem yet, but good to know if in the future I do. I hope they keep customer service a high priority. I usually am happy to pay more for things when I know the support will be there, and of course if they have that little US flag sticker on it somewhere.

Yeah I will for sure be a ecotech customer for life. I want to eventually go LEDs and was looking at all the brands and was thinking man Ecotech wants kind of a lot for their system. But after reading what you can do with it and seeing this kind of service for something that has been out of warranty for 2 years almost. Its well worth the price.

At least some companies still believe in quality customer service. It seems like a lot of companies now days get you money, give you a product, and send you on your way. I hope I never have a problem with my MPs but if I do, its good to know there is someone on the other end of the phone that would actually like to mitigate my problem without charging me a $35 "answer fee". Looks like I'll be ordering Ecotech stuff from here on out. Nice job on getting this kind of thread going to get the word out!

It depends on what its running but if memory serves me correctly it will power an MP40 at half power for 36 hours.

How long the backup battery is good for in case of power outage?

72 hours with the MP10 and MP20 and up to 36 hours with the MP40. I think 20hrs for my mp60.

Very cheap insurance IMO. I'm at work 10-12hrs at a time. More than that, I can just pull out my generator.

You can use those 10% holiday discounts from vendors too for the battery backups.

Definitely need to get at least one. I'm adding a 3rd MP40; one battery is a must for this time of the year.

There was an incident many years ago with MP40 and battery backup.

Interesting, I had no idea that the MP's had any bearing on O2 in the H2O. I always assumed the air came from the skimmer, plants, and circulation through the sump....
