I wonder why so many of these videos seem to have hip hop music with lyrics laid over the video of the tank, with the big one being lyrics. For some reason, songs with lyrics laid onto ornamental aquarium videos doesn’t gel well, IMO. Gorgeous tank, but I don’t care for the music selection. Something a little less energetic seems appropriate for these types of videos. Lofi or jazz seems just perfect, IMO.

Yeah, I like all forms of music myself. Not a fan of rap, but I do like hip-hop beats /instrumentals. I enjoy the piano stuff and jazz too. I just feel like hip-hop is the most common for YouTube videos.

Oh it’s the most common, and I thoroughly enjoy hip hop and rap. Hell, I have the newest Run The Jewels vinyl framed on my wall (I’ll post below. It’s the pink one at the top left. The David Bowie album is an original 1977 print of Heros, my all time favorite). It’s just when I think reef, hip hop or rap is right up there with country music. They’re too specific and too different from what comes to mind when you think of the ocean.

I agree the music does not seem to match the video. Enya or Kitaro would be good choices, or piano music, IMO. But hey, at least they figured out how to add music, which is more than I can say for myself. I guess you need some serious video editing software - let me know if you have suggestions. I need to post a video of my nems so everyone can see what I'm missing.

Man, I really need to get some Gonis. Since I went nem-less in my reef tank, I do miss the movement of the nems, and Gonis like these would be a good substitute. Beautiful tank.

I like the Goni’s probably more than most anemones and I would consider myself an anemone freak.

Long tent Goni’s and Torch’s are very hard to beat.

That Elos DG 120XL is $5,821. Ouch!!!!

Diamond Vision Glass:

DiamondVision Crystal glass. ELOS lead the market in the realization of aquariums through the use of the ExtraClear Glass.
ELOS today, is the first in the world, to introduce the newELOS DiamondVision glass, for a "crystalline" view of the inhabitants of your aquarium!
ELOS DiamondVision glass combines the qualities of scratch resistance of the ELOS ExtraClear glass, adding a unique transparency.
Thanks to a light transmission of 92% and a colour rendering of 99% the aquariums of the new DiamondLine will offer an extraordinary view of the inhabitants of your aquarium.

For added security!

We always make our aquariums braceless, thanks to the unique characteristics of the silicone we use.
Today (first on the market) we introduce the new bi-component, high bonding glue.
Used on larger models, which require a better resistance to pressure: ELOS raises the bar again of the sealing characteristics of its aquariums.

With a small footprint, the new variable flow drain encompasses the features that all users require in a modern aquarium' overflow: incredibly quiet, high variable water flow, safety features!
Thanks to its design you will be able to use very high flow rated pumps (up to 9,000 liters*), without any drain noise.

Equipped with a tap both, in the drain as well as in the return, you will be able to control the flow, thus reducing the need to install extra flow pumps as required in ALL competitors aquariums.

Elos has the worst design for a reef tank when it comes to draining water.

These tanks are designed for planted tanks with minimal bioload.

I had to drill mine for a ghost overflow due to lack of flow/drain in the tank and I had the big giant 160XXL.

Nothing compare to elos when it comes to glass clarity and quality. Top notch quality.

That’s crazy. I would have thought it would be a good design. Can’t got wrong with ghost/ BeanAnimal overflow.

Awesome tank! I'm growing to care less about the highend tanks & more about what is in them. Save the money from the expensive tank & buy more high end stuff inside it.

My new tank has Starfire front. First one I’ve ever had. I figured this time I would enjoy the corals simi close to their true colors. Although it’s definitely not diamond glass. Not sure the clarity rating on regular Starfire. If anybody knows I’d be interested to hear.

After seeing Nathan’s upgrade at the perfect time.. it convinced me.

The 120/G SCA I listed in the other thread has all 3 viewing panels in Starfire. It’s only $899 SHIPPED! That’s a nice deal!

Well, I know the sand used for low-iron glass is only 0.01% ferric oxide. Regular glass will have 10x more. There’s also different brands of low iron glass and I don’t think their all created equal. It’s hard to find clarity ratings, but I did find a lot of those other brands. From what I hear, they are just as durable as regular glass. I know a lot of people have said they scratch easier. Can’t confirm that one way or the other, but I know the glass companies and some tank manufacturers say it’s no different than scratching regular glass.

I emailed Planet Aquariums to see what brand they use. I hope it’s Vitro because they seem to be one of the better brands, but I’m sure it’s a budget glass from China. I’m interested to hear their reply. I’ll let you guys know.

Email:
Quick question. Do you know what brand of Low Iron glass is used for Planet Aquariums? Is it a brand from the following list? Starfire from Vitro, Guardian Industries UltraClear aka Ultrawhite glass, Pilkington’s Optiwhite, Starlite, Krystal Klear, Diamant, or Eurowhite?

If none of these above, what brand? Thx!

BTW, if anybody can find clarity ratings that would be great.

I have a reefer 170, with what they call ultra clear (not sure if that is low iron or starfire) and I have an older DSA tank, pretty sure it's not either. I have seen tanks with starfire & do they look clear, sure clearer than any other... not to my eye. A nice tank is a nice tank.

Now I do understand the concept of the greenish tint from regular glass, like your pic above shows, but that is also from the side & not the front.

I install glass on commercial storefronts that use both & to tell you truth, I can't tell the difference.

I have heard it scratches easier too. Ai've also heard if you use LED lighting the advantage of starfire is minimized. Don't know if either is true.

Yep....

Hi Jared, We do not use any of those brands. We have been working with the same glass manufacturer for the past 7 years and it is an unbranded Planet Aquarium product. Sincerely, Planet Aquariums
