I am moving from Kalkwasser to B-Ionic 2 part
I have this question to those who have some experience with it. My Alk is being Consumed more then my calcium so should I dose equal amounts of both as they claim or should I dose each part separately according to the needs of my parameters?

I’m not using a reactor. My calcium is going to be the Esv 2 part.

Randy Farley always tells people to resist the urge to dose unequal amounts. I dosed unequally for a long time, but finally started using his method. To my surprise, when I checked they would be nearly spot on. Could have been luck I don’t know. If the Alk is dropping too low..like 5 dKH then I would bring it up slowly. Jake Adams ran his tank as low as 4 dKH and I would pick with him about it and he would say the corals look good though. For me, it just seems more logical to get it up between 7-9. I always ran around 8 to 9 when I dosed equally, but if it did drop too low or if it drifted too high I wouldn’t be scared to correct it.

Thanks. I am keeping my Alk at 9.5 and it seems to be dropping around .5 a day. So I am dosing 4.8 Mils to keep it at 9.5. My calcium only drops about 5 a day. So I am dosing to keep the Alk at 9.5 and using equal parts. Did it for the first time this morning and both levels where spot on. I appreciate everyone’s help. Its good to have a place like this to be able to tap into the knowledge of experienced reefers. Saves me a lot of frustration and money. Thanks again.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Mg is the binding agent of all this stuff if your mag is low you can add all the alk and ca you want and it will precipitate out. Order of operations is to correct Mag first then adjust your alk and ca

Yes, check Mag!

I always kept mine around 1400-1450 (probably too high). Never had issues with Alk or Cal though.
