Disaster! feel my pain! I lost all of my LPS corals and I moved them here from Florida 10 years ago. Stupid me. I walked into the apartment and smelled that smell. The smell of algae and coral stewing.

My auto top off died yesterday, so I had to pull it out from the mess of wires. I have an Apex Jr that has a temperature controller with a eheim heater. The eheim heater has a temperature controller built in. When I put everything back together I swapped outlet 3 and 4. So the auto top off was turned off when the heat got high.

The heater could have been failed on for years without me knowing. Its a lesson learned to plug the heater in and see if it cycles on a regular basis.

My favorite coral, a microbubble, supposedly rare from indonesia 13 years ago, is currently melting in my second tank. I met the writer/diver that first found it at UF. I'll post pics of it later to help get a good ID. I need to replace it, and hopefully its plentiful in the hobby since its been so long.

I feel your pain man. I've always gone with a titanium heater with digital display for this reason. It shuts itself off when the desire temperature has been met. I also have it plugged into my apex to shut off as a backup too. Hope you're able to find what you're looking for.
