im getting 80 lbs of LR from a friend that is in water now, but is totally dead due to the hypersalinity...

I want to dry it out (since its dead already) and build some structures with it.

I plan on building the basic structures with dead rock, then adding LIVE LR on top to sead everything and use the rock that i have now since there are zoas and mushrooms on it.

Whats the fastest way to make it look good again? you know caroline algea, other algea, basically be the right color instead of start white?

I was thinking about maybe a freshwater tub of water out in the sun so green algea can grow all over it, then throw in some salt to bring it to the right level and still leave it in the sun to grow algea...then super CUC in a seperate bucket.

Any better ideas?

RIT dye it pink like GARF used to do ;-)

No seriously - the white looks good to my eye - and corraline will grow on it quickly if you have good conditions.

brandon - starting a new tank.

Ill definatly look into prodibio, thanks

Or you could just throw money out of a window, same difference...

What Brandon was eluding to is that you will need to "seed" the LR with more lively rock once the tank is established to obtain coraline, etc.

once the structures are built i will add ~40# of rock from my system to seed all the other rock, let it cure for a while, then pick the best 30-40 lbs from the curing tub and leave the rest for "future projects" haha

+1 on the prodibio..........use it with bioptim for better results..........theirs also bio-spira but with prodibio you get more bang for the buck rather than just throw in a $13 bottle of biospira and thats it.........
