So I am in the process of building a reef controller to control LED's & temperature. There are plans to control much more in the future, but I just want it up and running for now. Anyways, I have been having a problem with my sps for a few weeks (browning out / bleaching) and I have been thinking it was a lighting problems (haven't ruled it completely out yet). However, I got the temperature sensor up and running on my controller and was a little surprised at the temperature it was displaying. My old thermometer has been reading ~75 and my heater has been set to ~79 but always seems to be on. Once I placed the new temperature sensor in the aquarium it displays 85 degrees... Instantly thinking it was my error in the coding of the controller or something, I got another thermometer. Sure enough my heater / old thermometer is not working correctly and I have been boiling my tank :(. Luckily I didn't really kill many things in my aquarium yet, and I hope I caught the problem early. Can't wait to get my controller online!
