no need to feed really if you have good lights and some pooping fish.

but the amount you feed will depend on how many corals you have. if you have a tank full, feed every other day. if you don't have that many, once a week or once every two weeks is still fine.

i actually don't feed my corals but about once a month with phytoplankton.

Hi, Nascars.
I feed my fish daily with a custom mix that has a lot of cyclopeeze, so the corals get fed by default. And just like Brandon, I feed with phyto once a month. IMO, you can do any frequency you want, your choice...

good luck,
Steve

I think they will grow faster, but I'm certainly no expert on that...

Why don't you ask Eric Borneman on the Marine Depot forum?

growth is really going to boil down to your light setup, as well as the calcium and alkalinity levels in the tank. obviously other water parameters (phosphate, nitrate, nitrite, and ammonia) can all affect the growth/coloration of the corals, but if all of those are in check then lights, calcium, and alk are your limiting factors to faster growth.

feeding phyto/zooplankton to your tank regularly might foul up the water. so if you do it too much, you might actually end up impeding the growth in your tank.

if you do feed corals with phyto/zooplankton, how long do you need to shut the skimmer down.

thanks

Corals should definitely be fed... there's no one right way or one right formula, but you definitely should be feeding them.

Cool, then I can just dump anything into the tank and in any manner, regardless of the coral species being kept. As usual, great advice. Thanks!

I usually feed in the evening and I shut down the skimmer overnight. Turn it back on first thing in the morning.

Good luck,
Steve
