..How do you clean them? I throw them in the washing machine, but I guess the detergent stays in them and makes the tank cloudy for a few days. Any other ways to get them good and clean?

Toss them out and get a yard of felt, I can make about 15-20 for $3-5. Bigger ones about 10 or so. At that price theres no big deal to toss them at that cost

Spray them off with the garden hose and sprayer attachment. Hang to dry outside and use when ready.

Hi, fishboyt.
Just do an extra rinse cycle to remove the residual laundry detergent. That's all you need.

good luck,
Steve

Taken up sewing have you? :D That's actually a good idea. I wish my wife had a sewing machine....

What do you use for the ring at the top?

I wash my current ones in bleach/hot water in the laundry.

I throw mine in the washing machine and just use water. Once done I turn them inside out and run through another cycle.

Steve, heck yeah i do. i don't use a ring though i made a basket out of eggcrate that holds up my filter socks keeps everything nice and neat, i used to rubber band them to the hoses but that can backfire if you don't watch your system daily.

Any pics how you made a basket out of the eggcrate to hold the filter socks?
