I have a single juvenile Ocellaris Clownfish that my little girl picked out a couple of months ago. Of course, she calls it Nemo. Nemo is her favorite fish. She talks to him and greets him good morning says goodbye to him before heading off for school. She is 9 years old.
Nemo seems to get along with the other fishies and corals in the tank. He is eating well and actually became "friends" with the 3 greem chromis. They actually hang around each other all the time like the true pals.
While on a business trip last week and my little girl called me and told me that Nemo is missing. I told her to look around. Maybe he is hiding behind the rocks playing hide and seek with her. Of course, I feared the worse. She is very upset. I asked my wife to look at the tank and check for Nemo. I told her if she finds him floating, don't show the body to our daughter and simply dispose of it quietly. She found nothing.
When I got home, I checked myself. Maybe Nemo jumped and has now dried up behind the tank. At least I can tell her that Nemo fell or something like that. I didn't want to just replace Nemo with a look-a-like. The weekend came and my little girl is now very worried. I told her that maybe Nemo died and the snails and crabs ate him. She started to cry. I told her to pray for Nemo.
Well, a few minutes ago, I was checking my refugium, and guess who I found? Yup, it's Nemo. He seems healthy and un-injured. The only way he could have gotten there is by getting sucked in the overflow, through the 1.5" piping, past a couple of Y split that either leads to the sump or the refugium. I guess he made the right turn.
I can't wait to tell my little girl when she wakes up tomorrow that I found Nemo.
