Jesus Murphy. I’ve had nothing but good experience with their heaters. What’s going on with your heaters?!

dunno on all 3 the top has popped just like this one. On one I just happened to notice before being barefoot and sticking my hand in the water.

I've had two 800W running for a year without any issues. Are they undersized for the tank?

I had a couple Finnex heaters that simply quit working after only a few weeks, but fortunately they didn't blow their top or shock me.

Do you guys submerge the head in water?

Even though it says fully submersible I don’t submerge the head which is really the weak point.

Mine are as well. The heater is titanium supposedly. I liked them as they have a protective cadge that keeps them from burning acrylic or in my case white ABS hydroponic reservoirs that I am using for frag tanks.

I’ve been using a lot of the fixed temp Aqueon heaters in my fish QT systems. Have grown to like them.

Grounding rod......

In the display tank yes.

but these are in a room off my garage. I only check on them 3-4 times/day. So I don’t want the pumps getting shutdown. So I guess for now I’m the grounding probe when I go out there barefoot or in my socks.

I just need to get a ranco controller and a couple of the higher end heaters for my display tank. I’m shutting down some of the systems in my garage so not going to spend any $ out there.

my main deal is I bought 10 of 200/300w Finnex heaters with the analog thermostat and 3 have failed in dramatic fashion. That’s a 30% failure rate for equipment < 2 years old. Just want folk to be aware and spend their hard earned $ elsewhere.

I had 2 300 watt finnex completely submerged in my 300gal. Do not buy their thermostat. It’s worthless. Used a ranco for both and then hooked up the rancos to my apex. Also had a grounding probe in the sump. Temp was controlled 77.1-77.3 with no problems for almost 2 years.
