Is there any decent fish stores in the Clear Lake area or close to us, or are they all across town?

Their is a place on Scarsdale & Beamer. I think the name is Pet Place. They really don't have much.

I have gone to Neptunes and Tropical Fish Depot.
Neptunes selection service and quality of livestock will leave you desiring much much more.
Depot has better selection adn lower prices but service is horrible as well and dont bother to ask them any questions as they wont have a clue as to what you are asking about.
Opinions vary and that is just mine!

Well, estone can't be more accurate when it comes to the Clear Lake fish stores. There's just simply too much left to be desired. It's ridiculous.

You'd think they would get a clue or something...I've even tried to nicely suggest some things to Neptunes but I get a snide remark or two in response.....oh well. I guess they'd rather try and sell $500 fish-etched glass tables instead of quality saltwater livestock and decently priced products...I mean, geez they only have the whole clear lake area as a potential market since there is absolutely no other competition except, TFD (Tropical Fish Depot, Pet Place, and Petco...Sigh..and of course, one is each worse than the other). And the same clerk always tells me the same thing....'well we have customers paying this much for this stuff....so, that's your problem'.....fine....didn't know I was so horrible for not wanting to pay $9 for a snail and $80 for a flame angel....excuse me. But I do go there every week cuz they are the only place that sells Live Brine in the whole clear lake area.... :( And one guy who knows anything at TFD is really nice to me, but he can't do much about management and the rest of the knowledge base...I usually just ask for him when I have a question. It's the only hope. I do wish their corals were in better shape though. And this one poor Purple Tang in their longest tank - it is the worst case of HLLE I've ever seen. How it has lived this long I'll never know...

I should stop ranting...I'm sorry. It's just that having no decent stores in clear lake is a sore subject with me.....obviously

Maybe us MARSHians in the clear lake/south area should get together and try to convince a quality shop to open on our side of town or something....I know I can't afford $20 in gas for a one way drive to the other side of town these days just for a visit to the fish shops....

okay i just cratered the soap box

Kim, I loved your assessment of our situation.

Unfortunately, the rumor that Village Tropical was going to open a shop in Clearl Lake was just that: a rumor. *Sob*

We are badly in need of a great store out here.

Even though all the good fish stores are all far away, I m kinda glad it is. If there was a good fish store near my house, I would be there everyday and who knows how much money I would spend. So I m grateful for all the crappy (can I say that?) LFS in our area.
