Since my frag tank went cold yesterday I have been watching it pretty close for issues. Last night I was checking things out and everything looked pretty good except the Bali slimer was getting pale. I checked everything and all parameters are ok. Then up close inspection of the glass I saw......Flatworms!! Dangit!!!!!

I wonder if I got them from the frags at the frag demo? I have had them before but I am almost certain that I got rid of them, I checked the other tanks and they don't have any. But I have also had received and given frags in the PIF program.

If y'all got frags at the frag demo or given or received frags from me, check your tanks for flatworms.

Anyway, I am treating with Salifert's Flatworm Exit this morning. I am crossing my fingers that I have eradicated them.
From now on I will be dipping all frags before introduction to my frag tank.

I have some - but haven't done anything about them yet. Had'em for a while. Not plague proportions or anything like that and have not really found any on the corals. When I blow the baster on the rocks it will kick up some and every now and then I find them on the glass but so far not on the corals. Was thinking about a six line or another wrasse that was recommended but I am already at the stocking limit on the tank. I have flatworm exit and it definitely kills them so I know they are not the AEFW type. I'm just real hesitant to nuke the tank if they are not bugging the corals.

Don do they (s target mandarin) typically take any type of food once the planaria are gone (or do they have to have live copepods)?

Robert how did the FW exit work for you today?

from my experience, the targets have a better chance adapting to captivity, and survive better in closed home systems

I always run everything I get through a treatment of flatworm exit before its put in quarantine, and another a week later when I transfer it to my display tank if it looks good. FWIW I saw no flatworms come off any of my frag demo frags, though we probably got different ones. I got a superman rhodactis, the yellow SPS, green leather, and the hydnophora.

That is good news since the Hydnophora came from me. I am happy that i wasn't the cause!

fjw has a pipe fish that may help.

I didn't know that Pipefish would eat planaria. I would like to have one but I don't know how it would do in a frag tank. I think the mandarin would be pretty good though. I will have to get one of those.

i think it is only certain pipefish that may eat them, and also, certain species of pipefish also eat redbugs! Others that are known to eat planaria include 4 line and 6 line wrasses, canary wrasses and of course, the velvet sea slug, aka blue streak nudibranch

now that i think of it, he has the one that eat red bugs.
6 lines are good like don stated, but make sure it's compatable with your other fish, for a small guy it can get agressive. i have heard.
