For you people who know what we have been looking for, those elusive neon green "glow in the dark" candy canes, well we found them and we don't have the money, so wanted to give someone else the chance to order them or have a group buy, to split them.

Here is a picture of them:

Here is where they are: Here

(Cakepro if that is not proper, then edit out link, and people can pm us about its location.)

If anyone wants to do the group buy of it, let us know, depending on the week we might want to join in.

Well if the guy picked up the colony to take a pic, that could have cause them to retract a bit.

Hey I have some of those. When they're open during the day they are very cool looking. When the MH go out and only the actinic are on they do look like they glow in the dark.

Chris you saying they look that green, without major actinics? And when you say frags you mean in their frag tank??

Here is a pic of some a person has, this is with MH on it.

yea I was at city pets the other day and I do remember seeing one green candy cane and it was a frag in their frag tank. It did not look in good shape to me so I did not get it. They ony have their actinics on in their frag tank so I do not know what it would look under normal light. but for $4.99 you might give it a shot if it is still there. They also had a mantis shrimp that looked cool.

good luck

I saw 2 sets of frags one in the isle where the saltwater fish are and one in the little shallow tank on the end where the clams are. It was this morning so the tanks were somewhat dim so I can't give you a good comparison on the shade of green, sorry. If I had to guess I would say they were a little lighter shade of green at City Pets.

I wish my candy cane looked that healthy!!!

I might need someone to help look into why my tank acts funny from time to time.. i surely cannot uncover a reason.

Sweet Caulastreas, shroom. Those are beauts. Feed them so they'll split, and you can part them out :D. Those guys could make you some serious scratch, if you could get them growing.

WOW 80 bucks! Seems a tad high...The bright green ones are not that hard to find; I got mine locally (Baton Rouge) for free (yes the bright green ones). A few heads ae bright green, but some others are darker since the battle with my mille...the mille won that one. However, they are extremely hardy and most of the tissue was melted away, but 2 weeks later they have most of their tissue back and are starting to get color.

Honestly I wouldnt pay more than $20-$30 bucks for them pending the size of the frag. Also, there was someone a while back who sold a HUGE one (40-50 heads) for like 30-40 bucks.

Those are the ones I have (not my picture...but from the same colony). I believe that picture was taken under wither Iwasakis or Ushio 10Ks or XM 10Ks with a pair of actinics.

I am about 15 min away from LSU, near I-12 and O'neal off of Sourh Harrolds Ferry across from Runnels, the school.

There is not a whole lot here as far as LFS. As of right now I don't do business with either. I get most of my SPS from local reefers, but for other things I head to New Orleans.

I went in Noah's Ark last week--real nasty!!!! Aquatic Life, just down the street, was nice and helpful, but they're trying to recover from car that drove through the front and destroyed 1700 gals of tanks. They didn't have many tanks running.

Most of the LFSs there and in New Orleans were either filthy and eat up with aiptasia or had brown coral. Not much color. Rick's Reef in New Orleans was very helpful and I found some good stuff there. Good prices too. Aquatic Specialties was way over priced, and Coral Connection wasn't quite what I expected. Houston has a much better selection as far as color. My LFS has more color in his 3 coral tanks than all the color I saw in the BR-NO area.

Fintastic Aquarium in Sulphur LA has some candy cane little bigger than mushroom's first picture and the same color for $42.99. I saw them today. Very healthy. Absolutely awesome, but I'm too broke to buy them now. Give them a call if you're interested. 337 528-0404 between 12 &7PM. Closed Sundays.

Narkon, I was at PlanetFish today and noticed that they had some neon green candy canes as well. It was a small colony (10 heads? - i can't remember) for $38. The color looked nice under those VHOs they have. I think they would look better in a real tank. No idea if PF will be open tomorrow, though.

Unfortunately, there wasn't much else for sale as far as corals and fish go. I guess they didn't make one last big order before the holidays.
