Sorry to ask, but do you think you could use some punctuation marks next time? I was trying to read your post and offer some advice, but it's hard to go through a line without having to re-read a few words. I think it would help everyone get a better picture of what's going on in your tank if things were easier to read.

Sorry, I know this is nitpicking. Just throw in a period every now and then. By the way, I hope your corals turn out fine. It sounds like you're on your way to getting things under control. Let us know how they're doing if those corals survive. :)

Could be a lot of things. I know your lighting is only NO right now - that shouldn't matter much with anthellia and GSP's, but you will definitely need to get those VHO ballasts we talked about before you start trying anything else.

Your tank is still pretty new, so you might just need for things to settle down first. The tap water could be an issue as well - our tap water tests > 400ppm TDS, so there's no way I would put that in my tank.

The copper could be an issue. It can be hard to test for - I don't know of any single copper test kit that will detect every variation of it. I have 2 different copper test kits I use for my hospital tank. I originally bought a Salifert test and it wasn't detecting the type of copper I was using, so I switched to a Red Sea kit and that worked. You're welcome to try them both to see if they detect anything.

thanks mike however im sure there is copper in the tank im starting the water changes to get all the copper out and im starting them all with new water so i can solve all these issues at once the gsp seem to be doing much better now I think they will be ok and come out once I get more water changes done I think that I have a good idea of ways now to solve some of my mistakes that I have made thanks to you guys

Im not sure water changes will get all the cooper out, Do you have live rock? I have no experience in this, but I have read that cooper is nearly impossible to get out of Live Rock.

I have to (vehemently) disagree with the myth that copper poisons a glass aquarium. Anyone is welcome to come see my two reef tanks, in which copper was used to treat fish-only at one time.

However, if you nuked your live rock with copper, about the only thing it's good for now is landscaping rock....in your yard. :( Unless it's going to be a fish-only tank, and even then you'd still probably want some invertebrates eventually.

Do not use distilled water!!! That water is absolutely stripped of all minerals and is probably quite acidic.

I used distilled water for the longest before I purchased my ro/di and my tank was perfectly fine. When you use an ro/di machine you are essentially stripping the water of all other minerals as well. That is one reason why it is not recommended to drink water that has been run through a DI resin bed.

Drinking water is bad too, way too many minerals in it. They actually add stuff into drinking water for the taste.

LOL...pure mountain spring drinking water is also full of impurities. It is probably a lot safer to use than tap water but still not recommended. Try to find a grocery store that has a water machine that you can take the empty jugs you just aquired to and fill them up. Most larger chain grocery stores have some sort of water machine in or near them.
