Can anyone give me an idea of what the best tool or techniques for fragging these guys? Thanks in advance! :)

Well for the Favites, I have been told by lots of people including Eric B. that a Hammer and Chisel should be better than a dremal since it is faster.

But you could use a Tile saw, with a blade you have only use on corals.

Well you get the picture right?

Oh and if you are fragging Favites, I might be interested, what kind you fragging?

Thanks Nathan!
I don't have the Favites yet... but wanted to get info on it since it is a larger piece, I will tell you that it is very nice and rare :D My husband just picked up some nice Montis at Village..a nice pink digita and lavender kinda fuzzy looking encrusting.

Well we would be interested in that one then. We think when we get a 75 it will be almost totally LPSs, since there are some gorgous ones out there. Have to see if any of the LFS will get any acanthastrea in. Those can be absolutely fantastic.

Just let me know about the Favites.

Fat chance on that one. I saw a guy on Reefcentral was fragging his at $100 a head.

I've never fragged Favites sp. I've seen Dave Lackland at Mote Marine Lab in the FL keys use a power saw to cut it.

table, more stable than a handsaw, less chance of damaging the coral( :) )

8O $300 for a coral the size of a quarter? Who would spend that much on a small coral? The most I ever spent on a coral was $60 and it was a show size leather.

That color though is amazing, I have seen one like that on RC, and well it is just wonderful.

Thanks for showing me that frag site, did you notice most of the acans were for trade only?

It is very hard to get acans right now, they don't grow as fast as zoas, but are in that same kind of fad where everyone wants them.

I had thought about seeing if anyone wanted to split the Maze Brain that Kenny had or a flavia that he was selling, then going out side and chisel it to peices.
