I am starting a small tank to propogate F. Ricordea. But I was wondering can you cut it just like a mushroom or do you need to let it split on its own? Also if anyone has any suggestions for me on propogating this please let me know.

you could cut it like a mushroom...just a razorblade through the mouth (make sure you cut through the mouth). or a rubberband to force it to split.

I cut one time and notice it took alot longer to grow and heal. I now just left it grow out on it's own. I have a technique that I used to create mulitple split witha food mixture. Generic but works for me for years.

I use the left over water from feeding the fishes and I put in coral frenzy, PE mysis, and ground up shrimp pellets. I let it sit for about 20 minutes, then I turn off all power heads and spot feed lps, and rics. Ohh I forgot to mention this is all done 30 minute after the light are out and fish are asleep. The key is only feeding a tiny bit twice a week and you will have mutiple split within two weeks. Don't take my word, try it. The rule is if the ric is eating then it's ready to split. Trying to over feed will not work , tried that also, lol. Twice a week worked the best with one ric splitting with 3 mouths. Think of getting all them to split that way.

Chat with Chewy! (Sounds like a play)

He split a lot and they did really well and healed and attached within a week. I don't know what he did, but I do know it worked because I have 4 of his shrooms and all doing wonderfully.
