I went to feed the fish last night...
When I opened the cabinet door, I was greeted by 4" of water in the stand. Thankfully the stand has about a 6" water-tight bathtub.
Some quick work with the shop-vac and the water was cleaned up. The reason for the flooding was the stupid ()*&(& Two Little Fishes Phosban reactor that I've repaired numerous times. The two top fittings snapped off and my attempts at fixing them were less than successful. I hung the reactors in the sump but apparently allowed one to lean towards the outside, propped up on live rock.
Lost two of my Hanna Checkers, my food, some other odds-and-ends and the notebook I've been keeping since I started setting up the tank. That hurts the most. Salinity dropped a few points as the ATO worked in over-drive to make up the water loss.
But I did learn some lessons:
Get a water detector. They're cheap!
Don't store your electronics at the bottom of the stand.
If you can't repair it successfully, replace it! (Leaning towards NextReef MR1s)
Quit being such an idiot.
Water-tight bathtubs housing the sump are awesome.
Anyway, please feel free to laugh at me. I'm doing that now that the emergency has passed. It could have been much, much worse.
