OK, so here's the deal I've had the piece of live rock for quite some time, and up until just recently it has just been just a piece of rock, no life. Last night I was looking around the tank (watching my new shrimp picking at things) and I saw this "fuzz" on an area of the rock. The rock is part of a "cave" so it gets almost no light at all, and little to no flow either. Sorry the pics are a little yellow but I had to use a flash light to get a decent picture. When I bought it that area was some sort of coral skeleton but I have no idea what. Thanks guys.

It is a type of ball sponge.

Thanks, any idea what kind, all the ones I see in a google search are brightly colored, don't seem to have spines (for lack of a better word) and require a lot of flow.

I have some in my tank, and we have some in the salt study tanks. I am not sure of the species.
