Today was bad but I learned a valuable lesson about my generac. Wife calls and say elect has been out for a while. Said the generator came on but not the elect in the house.
Ok so Im 40 minutes away but on my way home. Not worried about my tanks after an hr but koi are of some concern. upon arrival I cut generac off hoping it might reset.
Twice and no change. Took me some time without a computer but 20 minutes later Im calling the generator service, 4 hrs later they have not returned my call. Went to the
transfer switch at the elec panel, took the plate off where I saw a reset button. Why not I tried it. Wrong now my switch isnt going on and off. Will be looking
for a new service co tomorrow. Back to my elec problem. Pulled out my other generator and rolled it over to the elect panel. Started up, it ran 2 minutes and quit. At this point
A few prison words are coming to mind. Its been 2 hrs now and 2 neighbors call and say there elect just came on and mine hasnt. Went back to the panel and forced the switch off and
then back on walla elect is on. Not hitting that reset again.

Now for the lesson after Ive calmed down went back to the generac fired it back up and of course its still runs. Opened a side panel and dang there are 2 breakers there and one of them
had tripped it says transfer switch. Bottom line it was a one minute fix if you know where to look. Now im tired and stressed. Good news is all the corals gone out of my building.

Yea, that's a bummer. A client of mine who was wheelchair bound with lymphoma had a new Generac installed back in 2007 before the hurricane, just for such a situation. All of his medical devices made it very difficult to evacuate so he thought he and his wife would spend $16k on a new generator just to be "safe" in case we get one of those once in 20 year storms.

Well the big storm comes. They shelter in place. Then the power goes out and guess what...no generator. And guess what else...no one at the service place answers the phone. They were screwed. I can't recall what he did now as he has long since passed but I know it was very frustrating for them.
