Well guys my new journey is starting to take its course, as for the moment i still havent picked up the tank, but its a 135gallon with dual overflows. Today i drove to College Station to pick up some choice items. such as my skimmer and lights.

I have 120lbs of rock sitting in a tub with circulating water until i can get my tank.

here are some pics.

I must be color blind.. i did my first water testing today cause my hands were itching from just staring at the test kits, so i got off my ********* and went to it. the tank has been cycling for 3days now and i got the following:

PH - 8.3
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 2
Nitrate - 50

Theres 120lbs of rock that smelled like rotten eggs when i put it in so i thought my ammonia would be through the roof right now?

Well last night while at the local starbucks me and some friends were talking, we all have SW tanks so we know whats going on. i was telling my friend about how impatient i am that i still have no ammonia. she said that i should pee in my tank to kick up the ammonia in no time. i said she was crazy and that was plain nasty.. then when i got home i remembere they sell pure ammonia at the dollar stores. would this stuff work if you poor a cup in your tank? lol i know this is an ultra tard question.

I have heard stories of people who were aquaculturing T. Derasa clams who peed in the large outdoor vats to help the clam's growth.

I don't think you really need to add anything - nitrite comes from ammonia, so if that is showing up, maybe your bacteria is already doing the job on the ammonia!

But if you want to pee in the tank just to say you did it, go for it! Not gonna hurt anything at this point. :) Fish do it all the time. 8O

people do put pure ammonia in their tanks to kick start the cycle. But I would look for some more detailed info before I did it.

Patience, patience, patience. I know you're not long on patience, but be patient, chill out, relax, go read War and Peace or something. :D

As an aside, I added pure ammonia to the tank when I first set it up to kickstart the cycle, and it worked just fine. But I had started with a lot of live rock that went straight from someone else's tank to mine, and it had lots of good stuff on/in it to break down the ammonia. Had I known then what I know now, I really didn't even need the ammonia. I also had tons of live sand, too. As it was, the ammonia was down to zero in two days, and I slowly started stocking with fish right after I changed like 50 percent of the water. Anyway, like I said, just wait it out. The fact that you have nitrates and zero ammonia says it's doing something already. It'll give your mangroves something to absorb. Sure you don't want some chaetomorpha? I still have some.
