Ok, i can get them all mounted to the disk and plugs with the super glue as i can take them out of the tank. Now, i would like to mount the plugs and disk to my rock and have things stay where they are. I have tried the putty stuff (got it from Home Depot) which was a grey two part stick that you break pieces off and knead it together then stick it to whatever. The problem is i cannot seem to get this to stick to the wet stuff. I pull the frag out and dry the plug/disk as best i can but it will not stick to it. Tried just laying it against it and then pushing it onto the rock and holding it....still no go.

So, how do all you folks that have the tanks with stuff all over get it stuck/mounted to your live rock.

I have the same problem. The best thing to do is find a hole and use plenty of the putty.

So did you buy a really long drill bit or what? My tank is assembled and all the rock is in place. Also, what kind of drill bit do you use? Concrete or just a normal type bit? I have some that have done well with just laying them in a crack and they have attached and encrusted well. Others i have mounted on the plugs or disc and would like to really get them to a few specific places but i have had no luck getting them to stick.

I see all these tanks with a ton of different species and every gap filled in....that is my goal, but i need something to hold them to the gaps lol.

No, I'd take the rock out to drill it. You can use masonry bits, but I typically just use regular drill bits. Anothering I do, instead of using plugs, is to glue the frag to a piece of rubble, then glue a small (1-2" long) piece of hard airline tubing to the bottom of the rock. Then, it's pretty easy to find crevices to stick the airline tubing (or you could drill holes for the tubing, if you desire). That way it looks a little more consistent (not a bunch of plugs/discs all over the place).

I get the best results when I super glue the epoxy plug to the rock. Attach the frag to the frag plug and then make the epoxy plug and super glue the frag plug to the epxiy plug and then glue the epoxy plug to the rock. It'll hold it so good nothing will knock it over. I have some plating montipora doen this way on my overflows.

Sue, do you do this with the plug being wet/damp (like just taken out of the tank and towel dried) and then do you put super glue on the bottom of the epoxy before putting it into place in the tank?

I am having the same problem as my hermits are a demolition crew when it comes to knocking over my frags. Does anyone have a link, name or info for the adhesive that was featured at MACNA that is the same color as corraline algae when it dries (the pink stuff)?? I have been thinking about giving this stuff a try. You can also get a spray accelerator for it. Anyone have the info for it??

Hey i think it was the boston aqua farms or something that has the stuff you are talking about. I think they sell the accelerator for it also. Problem is, you cant spray the accelerator underwater.

Anyway, someone recommended trying the super glue gel and putting enough of it so that it will work underwater. Will give it a try tomorrow and report back lol.

yes, the epoxy plug can be wet. It still works just the same. I spread enough glue to cover the end of the epoxy plug and then stick it exactly where I'm wanting in the tank. Turbo snails cannot budge these loose.
