Trying to get a GHA (or maybe bryopsis...not entirely certain) outbreak under control. Not overtaking my tank but it is a bit of a nuisance. I'll give tank info and params below.
My question is whether it makes sense to do water changes while dosing Tech M? I've been dosing Tech M daily for the last few days but it seems counter-intuitive to do water changes while trying to drive Mag level to 1600. Comments?
75G mixed reef with 40G sump/fuge. 1.5" LSB and about 120lbs live rock. Tank has been running for about 4 mos. Using chaeto and live rock in fuge section. Redline 125 running 24/7 and skimming wet. NEP T5s (bulbs all less than 3 mos), actinics 8 hours, daylight usually for 6 but down to 3 at the moment. MP10 at one end on short pulse, K3 and K2 at the other end. Plenty of flow. Feeding Omega One pellets once a day, just so everyone gets to eat. No excess food survives the hermits and shrimp. Snowflake fed frozen krill once every 3-4 days. Water changes usually 10G every week or two.
Phosphates are higher than they should be and I'm guessing its leaching from some of the rock since I don't feed heavily and my bio load, while a bit heavy, isn't out of whack for tank size.
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 0
Phos - .25 ppm (probably a false reading with algae consuming)
PH - 8.4
Alk - 9
Calcium - 440
Mag - 1450
Using RO/DI with reef crystals
