My white sebea decided to open up this morning and there is a big white and purple glob sticking out. Its a couple inches around. I would take a pic but I cant find the power cord for my camera?

Anyone have any ideas of why this is occuring?

How long have you had it? What are your water parameters? Sometimes when stressed anemones will extrude their guts. They can survive from this, but the water needs to be fixed for survival.

Might be about to split, might be dying, or might not have any problems with it. But my guess is it doesn't like your water quality.

have you been feeding it? what are you checking your salinity with swing arm hydrometer or refractometer. the cheap swing arms are pretty inaccurate so that might cause a high reading.

I don't know why, but my salinity went to 1.034 once and my anemone melted away. I won't make that mistake again.

Where can I get a reractometer? About what am I looking to spend on one? And Is there anybody around Kemah, Seabrook, Clear Lake, League city that may have one I could borrow?

I bought a new Hydrometer but I think it may be my problem.

try megan's tropical emporium...45 and fuqua, or all about fish...45 south between almeda-genoa and fuqua. they are about 50-100 bucks each depending on brand.

Just to make sure, when you replace water that has evaporated, you are using fresh water and not salt water correct?

As an aside, I am very wary of anemones sold as "white" anemones or any other anemone/coral for that matter that is called that. Research how legit they are first - many are nothing more than bleached marketing gimmicks, IMO.
