Well, since the only sort of news I read nowadays deals with hurricanes and hobby I thought I'd share this one from Jake Adams at Reef Builders. There's going to be a hearing on Friday and you can submit your comments at Blnr.testimony@hawaii.gov by June 24th (This Thursday) regarding the ban of fish collection in the islands. I think a lot of us have a stake in this sort of issue, and the reason this sort of nonsense gets passed is because the industry that we love (the aquarium hobby) is small in comparison to tourism in that area. I read a couple of articles on Coral magazine some time ago that outright stated that the collection of Hawaiian fish is both sustainable and a fraction of what gets collected to be consumed as food. I also remember one article pointing the finger to a company in the Hawaiian area that runs boat tours that pushed this legislation under the guise of conservation when in fact it was purely about money and dominion over the oceans in that area. If anyone here has some additional data to share I'd be glad to give a quick read when I have some time off today from my work tasks. I think its time we as hobbyist let them know what we think while using data to back our argument (dont send anything in if you agree with the ban )
