I have the same brown plating algae in my tank. It's been growing for months and never hurt anything. It doesn't take over, just keeps up with the food supply. :)

The only thing eating it in my tank is the newly added chevron tang. I assume it's because it's a bristle tooth tang.

I wouldn't worry about it. If it really bothers you scrape it off.

Thx marsh, now in search of sallylightfoot crabs locally..anyone runs across this crab locally please let me know..

I had that stuff too pre-Ike. Didn't seem to hurt anything but it was slowly spreading...
