Sounds like a power strip that fried?

Can you plug your pump into an extension cord?

What’s really important is oxygen exchange. Can you plug in the in tanks wave makers to an extension cord?

You might be able to get a bubbler from Walmart fishing dept for tonight. New to hobby so someone else may rightly say that’s not a good idea.

Nope that will work. Or small air pump from pet department.

But I would try plugging pump or wave pumps into an extension cord first.

Oh boy I’m really sorry to hear. Deal with the immediate water issue. If you can just get in tank wave makers working you should be ok for the night assuming the wave makers disturb the top water of the aquarium.

I know I’ve been there! [emoji23]

He needs a new power strip and I think he’s going to the hardware store now. I told him to try and mount it away from any potential spills if he can.

We’re going to FaceTime at lunch. Hoping we can work it out

Also, when I spoke to him last night I recommended installing a GFCI outlet as well.

he needs to mount that power strip up higher than the water and be sure to make a drip loop. also dont buy some cheap power strip. This hobby aint cheap and you never want to cut corners when it comes to power and water. sounds like he needs some leak detectors as well.

Also air gaps are your friend. If the water you are putting in doesn’t start and end up back in the sump it should be air gapped to prevent back siphoning.

Btw.. the water damage should not be too hard to repair since you know where the moisture came from it will dry out.. sorry you had to learn that lesson the hard way. Don’t worry.. won’t be the last time.
