Help wanted (1 Viewer)

As some of you may or may not know, I have been in the hosiptal for the past full week receiving IV antibiotics for an agressive infection which I sustained through and open wound while working in my tank. I am under strict orders from my physician AND my wife to not perform any maintenance in the fish tank which would "get either hand or forearm wet or submerged in the water of the aquarium" for a minimum of the next 10 days while I undergo the second round of antibiotics at home.

To those of you who keep tanks you know that it is impossible to not do ANYTHING with a tank for 2 weeks. I have a cache of gloves which I can wear to allow me to do "normal" things like feeding and some "top of the tank" mantainance, but I need some long arms for doing bottom of the tank maintenance (like scraping the glass).

If anyone can help me out (maybe every 4th day or so) I would appreciate it greatly. Unfortunately, since I am paid hourly and have just lost a week of work (not including the expense of the medical bills) I cannot afford to pay (except in frags).

If anyone can help me, I would be ever so greatful.

I have some pictures. I was in so much pain last weekend that I didn't think to take "befores" but I've got a slew of "afters" which are still pretty gruesome. I'm working on a write-up with all of my labs, what we did that worked (and what didn't) and things to tell a doctor if you're ever in the same spot, so that no one else has to go through the learning curve that I had.

Thanks to everyone who's stepped up to help. I don't have anything specific (yet) but I'll call on you as I need something. I'll also try to keep it to a minimum.

Matt, sorry to hear of your condition. I'm glad so many good ol MARSH folks are going to help you out! My arms are short but I do have a suggestion.. I like to keep the glass on my tank clean but I hardly ever put my hands in the water to do it. I've got one of the little razor blade holders that Nick makes and it does a great job. It attaches to a mag float. That might help until you get use of your hand again.

i was over there last week and saw matt's hand and it didn't look good. definitely not something that anyone should have to go through if it could be prevented.

Thanks guys. Could I ask a favor? Can you guys please PM me your phone numbers? That way, if I need something (a HAND as it were, Andy) I can give you guys a ring and work out something? Most of the time I expect to get a call from my wife at work (Hey, this needs to be done, did you know that?!) and I cannot hit MARSH from work (stooopid filters) so I would need to call to arrange things.
