My refugium got taken over by cynobacteria and black hairy algae. Maybe switching CF bulb had something to do with it, and it has totally covered my cheateomorpha algae to the point where I can't remove it anymore. I had to throw the cheateo away  . The nasty algae has not made it to my main tank. however. I want to start from scratch with my refugium. How do i get rid of this unwanted algae without using chemicals to zap them? I cant take out my refugium, lot of plumbing involved. I can scrap them off the refugium walls and scoop them out with a dip net, but its back the next evening. I'm using a UV in my refugium with no success. Also does anyone have cheateomorpha algae to spare? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks

Cyano is pretty easy to deal with. First add some more flow in the refugium. second, cyano is an indication that you r tank is cycling. Give it some time and it will go away on it's own. It manifested in your refugium because of the slow current.
