I am confused on how you actually direct feed mushrooms? do I need a dropper or do you somehow do it by hand?

get a turkey baster...those work wonders feeding everything. or else you can get those long target feeders that look just like an extra long turkey baster.

After the food has been sprayed on does it stick to them or how do they eat it. I had tried something similar to that befoe but m fish ate it. hat was after I had fed the fish.

well mushrooms don't have a means to grab food like an anemone or a frogspawn/torch/hammer coral. they don't have the tentacles or stinging cells to grab the food. they simply absorb nutrients through their tissues, or eat via their single mouth. you can try to squirt some food toward their mouth and hopefully they'll grab it. but they don't necessarily need to be target fed.

I guess I am wondering why you want to feed them. Mushrooms as a whole do not require it.

If you have any of the large hairy green mushrooms, they will feed on larger particles of food, like mysid shrimp. If these are what you are talking about, then just squirt food towards them and they will fold up around the food and look like an onion bulb until it's gone. Other mushrooms you don't really have to "target feed", even the large green mushrooms mentioned above don't have to be target fed, if you feed your reef well, they should get what they need.

If you do want to target feed, it also helps to temporarily shut off all pumps and powerheads. I use medical syringes (20 & 60 CC) to target feed with. If anybody wants one let me know. They are a little more precise than a baster and free is the best price around :D .
