I bought a bunch of frozen food from Citypets a while back. I cut them all up into individual foil packets and ixed the in a zip lock bag. I grab a couple random selections for my fish, but have found my selection to NOT be that random. This is because one of the foods that I bought has a gel binder and stays together as a semi solid goo block when it gets thawed. I can mush it between my fingers and it extrudes like toothpaste, but does not dissolve. The big chunks swirl around in the tank and kind of make a mess. I am not happy with this one, and won't buy it again, but what am I supposed to do with it ?? I could dissolve it in paint thinner, but then its not much good as fish food. Melting it in a small tray of water works for everything else.

What gives ?

you must be talking about the herbivore blend that is green, if so I know what you are talking about and used one piece and threw the rest of it away.

have you tried thawing it out and placing it near the suction side of a pump i.e. vortech so the flow pulls it in and the blades tear it up?

may need to be fed out of one of those clips that comes with the plastic mesh with large holes that holds it in place but lets them pick it out.. thats what I had to use. I dont think its going to disolve down like the others, just the way its made.

The only use I found for it was getting butterfly's to eat prepared food. I would take a old coral head that they destroyed and smear it into the crevices then put it back in the tank. They'd tear it up and the best part was they left the rest of my corals alone.

Sad to say the old coral they destroyed was a brain and an acan.
