I'm working on my first tank in about 30 years (I think I've regained my rookie status :) ) and am looking for some advice. The footprint is 36x16 (50 gal and change). It sits approximately 3/64th low on the left front. Should this be something I should be worried about and shim up?

TIA,

Bill

Thats tiny amount. But water level is level so you might see it. Mines about 1/16 off and no one can tell.

If it was one side that was low, it wouldn't be an issue on a tank that small. But one corner low I'd shim, probably not necessary but that's not a good type of stress for the tank to have on it.

3/64ths? How can you even see that? I personally wouldn't worry. My water constantly moves more than that.

Are you measuring with water in it? If not you may want too. The stand may give just a bit.

I had water in it for about a month. Stand didn't budge. Shimming shouldn't be a big deal, I think I'll just go ahead with and sleep well at night.

Yep like Cat said, it definitely won't hurt to be perfectly level. Specially if you have the shims sitting there.

The main reason I posed the question is that I rarely hear it discussed. I prefer not doing it, but I've changed mind through the discussion.
