If you have sand, you prolly need to gravel vac it. Have you tried that?

yeah I’ve done it once. I just purchased a 24” tube and am planning on doing it this weekend.
That should help over time. Then just keep the LaCI3 going and see if it starts to come down.
Honestly I took the sand out of my tank within 1-2 days (very short time). Yep...against my better judgement, but very little negative effects if any at all. Maybe because the sand was so clean. I used to gravel vac it once or twice a week. Then... I got tired of it and siphoned it out. I thought maybe I would get tired of the BB look, but it was actually very low maintenance w/o sand and I enjoyed it. I think the absence of sand and having Siporax contributed to keeping my N&P undetectable. This allowed me to dose exactly what I wanted back into the system and made managing the numbers a lot easier. Then came COVID-19.
