I've been thinking about the intervals at which I rotate my equipment - heaters in particular, and was just wondering since I think I'm going to need a new one pretty quick. I normally don't like going more than 3 years with one heater, given the failure rates due to the caustic environment. I actually had a Visitherm detonate on me a number of years ago. Thank God I was home when it happened, or it prob would've burned the place down. I mean, I understand that it was the heater's crummy design, and all, but still from that point forward I've always been leary of pushing my luck with them.

Along the same vein - What brands do you normally use? I'm currently using the Marineland 300watt.

I have my Ebo-Jager heaters (owned by Eheim - i think) for about 4 yrs now and still work great. i'm thinking about replacing them next year, but I've heard many people using them for much longer time..
