how do you get rid of vermetid snails?. i know you can cut them off at the bottom , super glue the opening, control nutrients to control their growth, but how you get rid of them if there is alot. i hate their webs. i do not want to nuke my rocks. one solution i came up with is brushing the snails off then dipping the live rock with coral dip for about 20 minutes. but i am not sure if it will kill all of the bacteria on the live rock. what do you guys think. or is there any other way?

heres a pic of one

This is a new one for me h2o. Why do you hate the vermetid snails and their webs? I think they are pretty interesting and a natural and interesting reef inhabitant.

Well I don't mind a couple James , but I thnk I have quite a few that I consider them a nuisance now . I have a lot literally on every rock . I do agree that they do make the tank look natural but isn't too much, too much?

I don't know - I have a lot of them too - and some really big ones, but they don't seem to be bothering anything in the tank so I don't mind.

To me they are like the "modern day" killer bristleworms. I remember whenever someone posted they had one in their tank everyone else would chime in "kill those terrible suckers now, they will eat your fish." :)

Cheers

James - hmm maybe it's not so bad . I just thought it was me that had that many . I don't need to kill it . Haha just need to cut it down .

Second decimal - man that is alot of glue! Lol my hands will probably be all stuck to the rock before the rock is even done.

I was thinking of hyper or hypo salinity for a week or so since I have nothing or dipping it but I'm not sure if that will kill my good bacteria . I am planning on using these rocks on my new tank so I can cut down the cycling .

I had somuch in my tank, my anemone did not like it, could not find a nice spot it liked without vermitid, almost all of my rocks were covered with them. these are the only thing in our tanks no one has found a solution to.
