I have these groups of what look like small feather dusters on my rock, just wondering what they are. I dont think they are a polyp, maybe some sort of tube worm?? Its the brown colonys that you see in the pic.
I couldnt upload the pic.......

If they have white feathers and a light brown or white tube then yes they are probably little feather dusters. I have them every where in my tank, even growning on the glass.

They are light brown, feathers and tube. They are grouped together very tightly like a group of star polyps or something, and yes they are everywhere.

From the pic you emailed me these are not feather dusters.

I'm still leaning toward hydroids.

Is there any kind of mat holding all these together? Or is it just lots of the little individual stalks/tubes? The picture you sent wasn't close up enough to determine that.

They dont look like hydroids, at least not the ones i found on google. They basically look like miniture feather dusters, living as a colony.

There are some hydroids that look like a feather duster colony.

I have some clusters of tiny white feather dusters on one of my rocks too. Just like the single ones elsewhere in the tank, but for some reason they really cluster tight on this one rock.

Hard to tell but look like hydroids to me too.
Is there a hard tube associated with them?

Heres another type of hydroid:

Do hydroids retract quickly with light/vibration like FD do?

Cause that picture is a lot like what mine looks like too.
