So today I put my heater in the tank. Hit the switch, then POP. The dang thing exploded. It was rediculous. Fortunately my hand wasn't in the water when this happened. But it shot glass across the living room. I hate heaters.

wow, sounds like a thermal expansion. it was at room temp when it went in the water, right? what brand was it?

Same thing happened to me with a Aquacon heater!!!
I let it sit in there for about 30 mins and it blow up !

Not really, ok maybe a little, but it was broken the light wasn't coming on, and it was heating, lifted it up out of the water for a second to check the temp, (I"ve done this millions of times) dropped it back in and POP!eklikewhoa said:Sounds like bad case of user error
