I was getting some nasty stuff in my tank recently and just started using a combination of Marine S.A.T. and Brightwell Aquatics Bio Fuel based on some recommendations. It's too soon to tell, but i think it's slowing down.

How did you get your ph that high? Mine is sitting right around 7.8-8.0 depending on time of day.

to increase pH, dose kalkwasser. it will also bind phosphates which are probably fueling the dinoflagellates.

I have used more than a hundred gallons of SAT on service tanks and yes, it is good stuff. Carbon is useful too if you use a decent amount. Keep in mind that there is an underlying issue however.

I couldn't agree more.

Ever since I starting putting kalkwasser(mrs. Wages pickling lime $2.50 @ Krogers) in my auto top off bucket, I've seen a decrease in algae & an increase in growing white tips on my sps.

Now if I could JUST get this calcium reactor setup properly.
