It’s just really nice sand. Very consistent grain size and very clean.

ReefFlakes is known as the perfect grain size…(3.5mm I believe) that won’t blow around much with high flow



However, I’ve heard a few reports this year of different things in the sand. I was shocked, because it has always been super clean for me. It’s a good idea to run a magnet through any substrate and rinse it very well before adding to the tank.

I only got 2 30# bags for my tank. That’s about a 1” sandbed. I don’t even know if I’m going with sand, but If I change my mind at least I have it.

I use the reefflakes and love it! Perfect size. Doesnt get blown around when all my powerheads cycle on at the same time and still wrasse friendly. Good size/weight for those frag plugs I want on my sand bed as well.

I’ve used ReefFlakes forever. Great sand! This time I told myself I’d go slightly smaller. We’ll see how this goes with my high flow tank. I’ll probably either suck it out in a few months or not add it in the first place. Haha. Hey…but at least I have it if I want it.
