Good evening everyone. Does anyone know the color temp range of the Kessil H380? I have a Hydra Prime over my sump and I’m wanting to match the Kessil H380 color for increased growth.

Thanks in advance for the help!!

I just looked at the box and everything that came with mine. All it says is you can switch between deep purple and magenta, but no numbers. I don't know if their website gives more detailed information.

I have looked everywhere for this information. Apparently Kessil doesn't want us to know.. Lol. I appreciate you looking though!

It's not a temperature in the way that you're thinking about it. It's simply red (660nm) and deep blue (440nm) leds that create a purple light.

Chlorophyll A and B pretty much utilize just those parts of the spectrum. It's the reason plants are green. They don't need the green part of white light, so they reflect it.

Also, you'll find that red leds typically outnumber the blues in grow fixtures because the blue spectrum is utilized more efficiently than the red, so a little goes a lot farther.

As far as adapting your light to replicate the Kessel, you can target the same spectrum, but you aren't going to be able to duplicate the intensity considering that you only have one red led, and a handful of blues. Just crank your light as bright as it can go and that should help. Chlorophyll will absorb what parts of the spectrum it needs and pass on the rest.

Let me know how it works out. Like I said, I had made my own grow light and had great results, and this light seems brighter, plus a better spread. Here it was in action for what it's worth. Ignore the music haha
