I couldn't remember Kevin's username to PM him, so i apologize in advance for not doing this through PM's.

Kevin,
Was wondering how much you would charge to build Brian and I a Zeovit Media chamber...

Since this should have been asked through PM's, please PM me back.

Thanks
Andy

Talk to OUinLA (Madison) on RC. He builds a Zeovit reactor for $75, or you can buy the parts and assemble it yourself for $40, which is the option I went for.

So, who all is doing Zeovit around here anyway? I'm planning on trying it with my new tank.

What parts are required, and where do you buy them?

I got mine from Eric C. at FragFarmer.com for $100. It comes w/ little pump (quite one 1200). The reactor is exact same spec as the Zeovit.

I'm curious if you could bake the zeovit to recharge it. I'm saving up to start this system myself. I was going to build a reactor out of pvc, but now I'll have to check out this kit :)

When are you planning on starting it? We could pool our orders to save on shipping. I'm probably looking at ordering my first batch in about a month.

Mikester, I assume your asking me, I was going to order in the next couple weeks. So whenever you're ready. I was just going to order the basics, ZeoBac, ZeoStart, ZeoFood and Zeovit.

I can't get to some of the websites... Do you have to have a reactor to use this system, or can you use it by dosing in a sump or some other way. This is very interesting, can some one elaborate a little as to how this works.

Thanks
Rick

A chamber is really necessary. You need a place to hold the zeovit rocks separate from the main system, because they need low quantities of flow. The Over-The-Top chamber is really interesting, and if i had enough room in my sump for it, i would probably try this method. But i'm probably confined to the enclosed system.

Brian and I are going to be starting up a frag tank fairly soon as soon as we get a couple aquariums sold (1 freshwater 30, and 1 saltwater 20). So we are interested in getting a zeovit system started to help the propogated corals grow more quickly.

Invincible has the Zeovit system employed on his big tank. It's pretty neat looking but I'll wait until they have a knock-off version. LOL

the water comes from the bottom of the chamber and flows over the top back down into the sump. Only works with in sump systems. It's the best so you dont have to worry about having all the zeovit stuff going through one tiny hole to go back into the zump or whatnot, you just shake it, and it spills over the top.

Did someone call my name? ;)

There is a Zeovit forum that can answer any of your questions. Its a family over there so dont think your going to get your head bitten off by a simple post. :)

let me just say that Zeovit has been a success for me compared to ROWAphos which I lost several colonies and nice frags. Zeovit will make your water crystal clear like ROWA did and more. It can be used in any type of tank, but is mostly aimed for SPS corals. Dont let all of the different additives scare you. Its very easy once you get used to it as you start understanding your tank and corals needs. One thing though, you have to be VERY careful and take it slow in the beginning from switching from high to low nutrient. If you start seeing STN/RTN, back away from Zeobac/Start for a few days. The continue dosing once again. In the beginning, I was dosing more.. but now.. after understanding where your tank is at, you will not need to dose as much because your already at low nutrient.

By the way, Kevin (Reefalot) is working on a newer design which helps eliminate the hard pumping that everyone gets using Madisons and Grotechs design. Greg65 built a collar around his plate which helped him a lot.

Good luck to everyone who is using it. And whatever you do, dont rush into it!

Here's Madisons reactor and what Boosted98 is trying to explain:
