So I'm planning on putting in a large tank in my living room here in the next few weeks and can't handle the physical part of moving the old tank and putting in the new one solo. Guess I'll hire some movers? Looking for some recommendations on where to go or who to hire for help. Thanks!

Well sent messages to both, see who gets back to me. Now I've got to actually decide on the tank. I had chosen one but keep second guessing myself.
How big is the new tank?

:gotpics:
Display is 171g, 207g total volume. I had been looking at the CADE 1800 but its not cheap lol. Anyone have recommendations for 200g range? Space is limited and had loved that everything already has a spot built in with the cade.

Looking for something that’s pretty plug and play?

Reefer 750xxl has served me well. Also have the 950? @ 7” longer, 2” taller and I believe the same width. I’d install my own external overflow as the Red Sea overflows take up too much space.

Yes. One of the main reasons I'm upgrading tanks is I made some mistakes with plumbing and equipment sizing that have caused me a lot of headaches and figured it was easier to upgrade and have it done right from the start than it was to redo everything. Though I have set up other tanks and plumbing since then and learned a lot so plug and play isn't a must, but would be nice.

How big is your current? There is a lot of people on here that could plumb you up quickly and get you back on track with some of that if that would save you money in the long run.

Its a 75g int from Innovative Marine but its crammed full, so seemed like a good excuse to go bigger since it needs an overhaul anyway. Thinking about moving the 75 to another room and redoing it at that point. It will probably sit there a while but the more I save with the new tank the sooner I can fix it back up.

Me too. Every issue I have had with it was of my own making and would definitely recommend them.

If your pocket can handle it I would recommend a planet tank . If not redsea 900 3XL would be a great choice. I have redsea 425 xl whenever I hd issues it was a easy fix since they have close by warehouses .

+1 on David at Galactic. This past weekend they moved a 480 gallon tank to my house and they did an amazing job. Showed up when promised. They were quick and accurate. Moved the tank from someone else's house into mine. David came to my house before the tank arrived, looked at the location, made several suggestions, heck! He even drove me to Home Depot to pick up a sheet of insulation that would go underneath the sump. All in all, an amazing experience!

Here's a pic of the tank on its final place. I built a base out of 4x4s 2 rows high to bring the tank up 7 inches from the ground. The tank is 24 inches tall and with the stand being 36", I hate that when I stand in front of it I was looking at the very top, so I wanted to make sure I added some height.

Another issue I had was that the sump is HUMONGOUS, that's not the bad part, I love how big it is, but there wasn't a whole lot of clearance between the top of sump and the bottom of the tank. So I "Dropped" the sump 5 inches into the box, which increases the clearance and I have easy access to the skimmer and other items in the sump.

Tank dimensions are 8 x 4 x 2 and yes, it will be sitting outside. I'm hoping that my previous 1 1/2HP chiller is enough to keep this monster cool down in our hot summer days. I always knew in the back of my mind that I wanted to get a bigger tank, so most of the equipment that I bought it was much larger than for my 220g.
But never did I plan for a tank of this size, so we'll see.

I read that acrylic is supposed to help insulate the temperature inside the tank 20% better than glass. I guess we'll see... In the meantime, I think I might buy a few more of those insulation sheets and them to the sump and back of the tank to see if it helps.

Here's a picture of where I moved the 220g temporarily. Love being able to see the fishes from the kitchen window. Wife already said it cannot stay there :( so I'll be selling that 220g pretty soon. I'm planning on moving the livestock this weekend.

IMG_8269.jpg

Previous owner had 4x4 travertine at the bottom of the tank. I really like the look so I'm planning on keeping it for now, see how it works for me. My 220g was originally set up as a bare bottom, but it was quite unstable and with a lot of swings. Once I decided to add sand earlier this year I noticed a huge change for the better. Everything started opening and looking just plain better.

IMG_8285.jpg

I don't want to sell or throw away the 200# of sand I just bought a couple of months ago, so I'm planning to put it on the sump. As I mentioned before, the sump is Huge! 8' x 20" deep x 21" tall. I have plenty of space in there for a refugium, skimmer, 4 7" socks, pump return and even 2 more "areas" that I still haven't decided what to put in there, coral propagation / frag tank, who knows, for now I'll be able to keep the sand in the system but out of the main display.
