My skimmer, Deltec AP-600, has developed a pinhole leak at the joint where feed water enters the barrel. The leak generates a drop about every minute and a half.

I would certainly appreciate any ideas anyone might have about how to repair or who can repair this leak. It's a great skimmer and I really don't want to have to replace it.

Here's some pics of where it leaks.

Thanks for your help.
Steve

Is there a crack in the acrylic or is the fitting not getting a good seal? Is the fitting just placed through the hole and screwed or is it bonded or glued?

Is it your gasket not sealing? They do carry multiple sizes that may help your seals.

You can use some thin acrylic solvent/weld-on on that leak.
Is it a in-sump skimmer?

Thanks, Diesel.
It's an external recirculating skimmer. I wouldn't worry about it if it was in-sump.
I'm ordering some of that Weld - On 4 and also some of that Weld-On 16, the thicker version.

Good luck,
Steve

Cody and Tony,
The fitting is glued into place. I bought that thing in 2003 and somehow it just started leaking, I hope it's not fatigued and will start coming apart.

good luck,
Steve

Steve,

Have you already tried contacting Deltec's wholesaler? I think it's the following.

Yep, I would have just bought a new skimmer body. Emailed twice, no response. Their US people are very unresponsive, IMO.

Contact my good friend Adam with Battlecorals https://battlecorals.com/ he's is a Deltec recommended dealer.

Here's one of Adam's quotes; "The only problem Deltec has had in recent years, here in the US, besides very limited availability, has been little to no customer support.
These are great products, but they are not immune to wear and tear, and the rare but occasional defect.
With the return of Deltec's legendary customer service in the U.S., together we are ushering out a lost decade, and reintroducing Deltec to a whole new class of reefers, and finally getting properly reacquainted with all our old friends."

Lack of customer support in US was the only reason I moved on.

I had a very hard time getting skimmer pump parts which was an aquabee. Other than that you can't beat Deltec quality.

I got my parts from aquarium solution back then.

If you are stuck on keeping it, I would just E-6000 it. You can get the stuff for like 7-8 bucks at Wally World. Let it setup for 24 hours and forget about it.

I agree with y'all too. Deltec is typically phenomenal quality (they have few exceptions in their skimmer lineup), but the reps here are nothing like they are in the UK.

Emailed Adam and he responded within a few minutes - impressive. Unfortunately, the AP-600 is no longer in production so a new barrel not available.

Trying the repair route.

Wish me luck,
Steve

You also can try to post a want to buy Deltec AP 600 on R2R and bump it a few weeks.
You reach a larger audience and have a bigger chance to find one cheap as one might have laying around somewhere.
